Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit Scheme

The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched a scheme called “Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit Scheme” for the pregnant woman in the state. Under this Scheme, the Tamil Nadu State Government provides nutrition kit for maternity worth Rs. 4000 and financial assistance of Rs.14,000 for a pregnant woman. Objective of the Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit Scheme

The primary objective of the scheme is to help pregnant women and also secures the development of the health care sector in the state. In addition, this scheme aims to improve the facilities in the Government hospitals and make sure to take care of the condition of present women in the state.

Eligibility Criteria

In general, the below-specified women can apply for the Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit Scheme.

• Pregnancy Details of Women – A women who have delivered after the 1st of January 2019 would be allowed to avail benefits under the scheme.
• Residents of Tamil Nadu – Only the women who belong to the state of Tamil Nadu are eligible to get benefits under the scheme.
• All those women who have delivered babies before 1st January 2019 are not eligible under the revised scheme.

Documents Required

The applicant should furnish the following documents/records to apply for this Scheme.

• Identity Proof: PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Voter ID Card, etc.
• Address Proof: Aadhar Card, Valid Passport, Utility bill, Property tax bill, Telephone bill, etc.
• Women’s pregnancy details from the concerned hospital.

Benefits of the Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit Scheme

This scheme has various benefits associated with its use, which is listed below:

• The state government helps pregnant women financially by providing an assistance of Rs. 14,000 and a maternity nutrition kit to the pregnant women of the state.
• The nutrition kit containing iron tonic and nutrition supplements will be provided to be beneficiaries as per the scheme.
• Under this scheme, the state government has allocated a total budget of Rs. 1,001.33 crore for the scheme.
• These nutrition kits will be provided in two phases. The first phase will be at 12th week and the second phase will be between 16th and 20th weeks of pregnancy.

Application Procedure

Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit Scheme can be applied through local revenue offices throughout Tamilnadu by submitting the applications along with all the necessary information of the pregnant women. The online application procedure for this scheme will be intimated in the official portal by the government. The State Government is more likely to opt for an online application process for the ease of the applicants.
