Delhi VAT Registration, Delhi VAT Tax Rate and Return Filing
Delhi VAT Registration is required for persons involved in the sales of goods in the State of Delhi. The Delhi VAT Registration, VAT Tax Rates, VAT Return Filing and VAT Payments is determined by the Delhi Value Added Tax Act, 2004. As per Indian Legislation, each of the State in India can enact a separate VAT Act for the state based on the guidelines of the Empowered Committee to ensure uniformity of law across the Country. Delhi VAT Registration
Delhi VAT Registration is mandatory for dealers in Delhi having a turnover of over Rs.20 lakhs in the current financial year or those dealers involved in the sale or manufacturing of goods originating from outside the state. Once a Delhi VAT Registration is approved, the tax department will issue a Tax Identification Number (TIN Number), which can be used for all communication pertaining to the VAT Registration.
Delhi VAT Tax Rates
In Delhi VAT Tax Rates are levied under seven categories. The Delhi VAT Tax Rate schedule determines which goods full under each of the seven category and the VAT tax rate associated with that category.
- Schedule I - VAT Exempted - (Example: Books, Charcoal, Fresh Vegetables, Meat, etc.,)
- Schedule II - 1% VAT Tax - (Example: Bullion, Gold, Silver, Precious Metals, Precious Stones, etc.,)
- Schedule III - 5% VAT Tax - (Example: Communication equipment, bricks, utensils, coffee seeds, computers, etc.,)
- Schedule IV - 20% VAT Tax - (Example: Liquor, Lottery Tickets, Aerated Drinks, etc.,)
- General Category - 12.5% VAT Rate
Delhi VAT Return Filing
Dealers in Delhi are required to file quarterly Delhi VAT Return on or before the 25th day after the end of the quarter for online filing/e-filing or the 28th day after the end of the quarter for manual VAT Return filing. For online filing of Delhi VAT Return, the person can logon to www.delhi.gov.in.Delhi VAT Payment Due Date
