Jammu and Kashmir Birth Certificate
The birth certificate is a document of identity issued by a state government that records the birth details of a person. Birth certificate registers the name, gender, date and place of birth, parent's name and residential address of a person. All residents born in Jammu and Kashmir are eligible to apply for Jammu and Kashmir birth certificate. Once obtained, the certificate is valid for a lifetime. Birth certificate serves as evidence to affirm a person's birth in a particular place. It also serves as proof of a person's age for various purposes such as obtaining a driving license, school admission, applying for a passport, marriage license, retirement benefits, etc.Birth Registration
As per the law of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 every birth has to be registered in the State Government within 21 days. In the State of Jammu and Kashmir, the applicant can register their birth in the Chief Registrars in the States and the Registrar General at the centre, running through district registrars to the town and village registrars at the periphery.Required Documents
While applying for the birth certificate in Jammu and Kashmir, submit the following documents:- Proof of birth where the child is born (hospital)
- ID proof of the parents
- Address proof of the parents
- Marriage Proof of the parents
