Linking Aadhaar with Insurance Policies
The Government of India has made it mandatory for all insurance policyholders to link their Aadhaar with such policies. In order to create awareness of this mandate among the policyholders, insurance companies like health insurers, general insurers, motor insurers and life insurers are sending notifications on a frequent basis. This process can be done by both online and offline means. This article looks at the procedure to link Aadhaar with insurance policies.Documents Required
The following documents are mandatory to link Aadhaar with Insurance policies.- The 12-digit Aadhaar number
- Permanent account number (PAN) or Form 60 or 61
- The PAN card or Form 60/61 has to be submitted every time an account holder wishes to make a payment of more than Rs. 50,000.
Online Mode
In order to link Aadhaar with the insurance policy, the insurer has to make sure that their mobile number and Aadhaar before trying to link insurance policy with Aadhaar. This process varies for registered users and non-registered users.Registered Users
A registered user has to follow the below- given steps to proceed with the linking process. Step 1: Login to the Portal The user has to login to the customer service portal of the insurance company. Step 2: Add the Aadhaar Details The user has to add all the Aadhaar details in the appropriate text boxes. Step 3: Submit the Details Once entering all the details, the user has to verify all the details that are registered and submit the details. Step 4: Receiving OTP The user receives a One-Time Password to the registered mobile number. Step 5: Enter Aadhaar Number The user has to enter the Aadhaar number to get the Aadhar that is linked to the insurance policy.Non-Registered User
The non-registered policyholders have to follow the steps given to link Aadhaar and insurance policy. Step 1: Login to the Insurance website The user has to login to the website of the insurance company. Step 2: Enter the details The user has to enter details like PAN, Date of Birthe, mobile number, e-mail ID, policy number and Aadhaar number. Step 3: Receiving OTP The user receives a One-Time Password to the registered mobile number once the Aadhar Number is entered. Step 4: Enter the OTP The user has to enter the OTP in the appropriate text box. Step 5: Link with Insurance Policy Once the OTP is entered, the Aadhaar is linked to the Insurance Policy.Offline Mode
For those individuals who are unable to do the online process, here are the steps to do it offline. Step 1: Approach the Insurance Company Office The user has to visit the nearest branch office of the insurance company or contact the insurance agent. Step 2: Aadhaar Card Identification Number The user has to carry the Aadhaar card and a self-attested copy of the 12-digit unique identification number. Step 3: Submit the Documents The user has to submit the documents to the officer. Once the documents are submitted, Aadhaar gets linked to the Insurance policies.
