Nagaland Ration Card

Nagaland ration card is a multi-purpose legal document it enables the holder to procure all subsidies provided by the Nagaland Government. In Nagaland, the Department of Food and Public Distribution Government of India is implementing the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) under which a monthly quota of food grains is supplied at subsidised rates to the targeted population.  The objective of the issue of new ration card is to eliminate the duplicate and bogus ration cards and cover all eligible beneficiaries in the state of Nagaland. In this article, we look at the purposes, eligibility, required documents and application procedure of Nagaland Ration Card in detail.

Purpose of Ration Card

Ration card is a legal document that can be used as a legal identity proof and can be used as proof of your residence in all the Government and Private sector official works. Ration card can be used to get household requirements at a subsidised rate so that all people could profit from Government Schemes.  The government of Nagaland provides a subsidy for essential food items and commodities for ration cardholders. It benefits the poorest identified families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), and other population living Below Poverty Line (BPL) recognised as such within the overall norms approved by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. The people above the poverty line, the benefits under TPDS are restricted as per the notifications from the government from the time being.

Types of Ration Card

The Nagaland Government issues three types of ration cards to citizens depending upon the economic status of the applicant.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are based on the economic status of the beneficiary families. To obtain a ration card in the State of Nagaland, the applicant must satisfy the following conditions:
  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • The applicant must not possess another ration card.

Documents Required to Apply for Nagaland Ration Card

When applying for a ration card, it is necessary to submit the following documents along with the application form.
  • Identity Proof (voter ID card, electricity bill, Aadhaar Card, water bill etc.)
  • Family photo of all the members whose names are going to be there on the Ration Card.
  • Proof of Date of Birth.
  • Proof of Residence.
Note: The certificates mentioned above must be attested by a gazetted officer.

Online Application Procedure

To register for a new ration card online, the user application must follow the below-given steps: Step 1: Log on to the official website The applicant must visit the official website FCS portal of Nagaland Government. Step 2: Select the download link The applicant has to click on the "Download" link on the homepage of the portal. Step 3: Enter the Details After downloading, the application form opens. The applicant has to enter all the mandatory details such as your personal and family member’s details. Step 4:  Affix photographs After entering all the details in the application form, the applicant has to affix the photograph of the head member of the family and family members. Step 5: Attach required documents Now the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents mentioned above. Step 6:  Submit the form The applicant has to submit the form at their nearest Nagaland Food & Civil Supplies Office.

Ration Card Status Online

Nagaland Government is providing this facility through FCS Portal of Nagaland, and this facility can be utilised by both the ration cardholders and also the individuals who have already applied for the Nagaland ration card and waiting for the card to receive. The applicant must visit the FCS portal of Nagaland. Now, enter your Ration Card number or Acknowledgement number or application number and click on the "search" button. Then it will display the ration card or ration card application status on the screen.
