New Features of e-NAM Platform

In an attempt to halt the spread of the novel Corona Virus, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has launched new features of the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) Platform. The new features of the e-NAM platform allow the remote bidding and mobile-based payment for traders which will strengthen the agriculture marketing. The added features of the e-NAM platform promote the inter-State trade by providing online transport facilities for distant buyers.

This online trading platform for agricultural commodities is started on 14 April 2016 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. It is as a pan-India trade portal ant its is linking the Agricultural products market committees across the States. Know more about e-NAM

New features of e-NAM

For enhancing the effectiveness of e-NAM, the following modules have been introduced:
  • Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (e-NWRs) module
  • Farmer Producers' Organisations trading module logistics Module

Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (e-NWRs) module

Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (e-NWRs) module of the National Agriculture Market software is developed with the Warehouse trading module with payment features. Using this new feature, small and marginal farmers can directly trade the stored products from selected Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA). This feature applies to the warehouses which are registered in Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) and declared deemed market by the State. As per this new feature, the farmers can able to place the products in WDRA authorized warehouses. The farmer can sell the commodities in already declared deemed markets of 14 warehouses in Telangana and 23 warehouses in Andhra Pradesh.

Farmer Producers' Organisations (FPO) trading module

Farmer Producer Organizations are formed by a group of farmers. To facilitate the FPO process, the Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is mandated by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The role of Farmer Producers' Organisations is to act as an aggregator for farmers including from inputs to output. In the case of unsold Lots, Logistics arrangement is to be made by FPO/FPC The integration of the FPO trading module with e-NAM enables the Farmer Producers' Organisations to upload the produces from the collection centre for bidding. This e-NAM has enhanced with a feature to upload assaying reports and image of the product, the FPO can update the quality parameters of the commodity which will help the bidders to easily analyze the produce before bidding. As a measure to reduce the logistics cost for the FPOs, the e-NAM new features allow the FPOs to deliver the product from the collection centre to mandis premises after successful bidding.

Logistic Module

The old version of the e-NAM portal furnishes a database of individual transporters to the traders. The integration of logistic modules with the e-NAM is carried out after the quantum response of logistic needs by traders. Using these large logistic aggregator platforms, the trader can choose the transporter from the list of registered transporter. This new version of the e-NAM portal enables the trader to select the link to navigate to the logistics provider’s website and select appropriate services. With these additions, more than 3 lakhs trucks from large logistic providers are added for the logistic purpose.
