Procedure to Update Aadhaar Card
Government of India (GoI) has provided provisions to change personal details in the Aadhaar card incase the details mismatch with the details printed on the Aadhaar card. The procedure to update the information on the Aadhaar can be made through visiting the Aadhaar enrollment centre or online. The GoI informed that it might provide a solution to correct all the information online, soon.
Reasons to change Personal Details on Aadhaar
Mismatch in name, address or date of birth
Moved to a different location
Changed the mobile number
Changed the name for numerology or other reasons (requires FIR copy)
Steps to update Mobile Number and Date of Birth on Aadhaar card
To change the date of birth and mobile number, the individual must visit the Aadhaar enrollment centre
Step 1: Visit an Aadhaar enrollment centre with the required documents
Step 2: Fill the details with relevant information in Aadhaar form and update with the correct date of birth (DOB) and mobile number
Step 3: Submit the Aadhaar form with the revised date of birth
Step 4: Provide bio-metrics to authenticate the identity
Step 5: A fee of Rs.25 is required to apply the process for updating the date of birth in the Aadhaar form
Step 6: After paying the required fee, an acknowledgement slip will be provided from the Aadhaar enrollment centre with URN. The slip will be required for updating and checking the status of the requests.
The date of birth will be updated within 90 days. The updated details on a new card will be delivered to the registered address.

Steps to Update Address Online with Document Proof
Step 1: Open UIDAI webpage
Step 2: Click on My Aadhaar > Click on Update Address Online
Step 3: Provide the relevant details and verify with OTP
Step 4: Select the address option to update, provide the address and click submit
Step 5: An automated URN will be provided to check the status of the request
Steps to Update Address Online without Document Proof
Step 1: Open UIDAI webpage
Step 2: Click on My Aadhaar > Click on Request for an Address validation letter
Step 3: Provide the relevant details and verify with OTP
Step 4: A SRN will be sent to the applicant
Step 5: Provide an Aadhaar number
Step 6: Provide the SRN
Step 7: A link along with OTP from UIDAI will be sent to the registered mobile number
Step 8: Enter the OTP in the link and click confirm
Step 9: After clicking confirm, the applicant will receive another SRN and OTP
Step 10: Provide both the numbers and click login
Step 11: Provide all the details to update the address and click submit
Documents that can be used for proof of birth
Any of the below-mentioned documents can be used as proof for changing the date of birth in the Aadhaar card
- Voter ID
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- PAN Card
- Ration Card
- Mark sheet issued by school or university
- SSLC certificate
- Pension payment order offered by the Central or State government
- PSU or any government issued photo ID card
- Date of birth certificate issued by Group A Gazetted office
- Central Government Health Scheme Photocard
- Ex-servicemen contributory health scheme photo card
- Photo ID card that is authenticated by a recognised education institution
It is mandatory to note that the date of birth can be changed through the enrollment centre only once. If there is a requirement to correct information for the second time, the concerned individual should visit the Unique Identification Authority of India' (UIDAI) regional centre and initiate it through an exception handling process.
