Sanchaya is an e-governance platform used to regulate revenue and license system in Kerala. Sanchaya online services are also for collecting property tax and building taxes online in Kerala. In this article, let's look at how to pay online property tax in Kerala using Sanchaya platform.What is Sanchaya?
Sanchaya is an online application system which is a part of the LSG Computerization to collect revenues from the public for taxes and fees. Sanchaya facilitates the public to pay building or property tax, profession tax, rent on land and building and licenses such as Dangerous and Offensive (D&O), Prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) and Advertisement tax etc. Sanchaya further serves utility payment services too such as hall booking, ambulance, vehicles, crematorium and payment on the water bill in the State of Kerala.Procedure for Paying Kerala Property Tax
Step: 1 - Visit the Sanchaya Website
The user must first visit the official website of Sanchaya which is www.sanchaya.lsgkerala.gov.inStep: 2 - Citizen Login
The user could click on Citizen Login to log on to the payment section and go to Online Local Government Institutions and select the district the user belongs to.Step: 3 – Local Body
The user must select the local body type such as Corporation or Municipality or Grama Panchayat and click on search.Step: 4 – Search Results
After clicking on the search button, the system would populate a list based on the local body type mentioned in the previous step. The user must select the option appropriately.Step: 5 – Payment processes
The user could click on the option "Property Tax Plinth Area" or "Property Tax e-payment."Step: 6 "Property Tax plinth Area."
The user must now click on the Property Tax Plinth Area, and it would direct him or her to enter ward details such as ward year and the ward number.Step: 7 – List of Properties
The user could now see the display of a list of properties matching to the ward number and ward year that was entered in the previous step.Step: 8 – View and selection of property already added.
The user could select his name that is listed from the display, and once it is clicked, he or she would be able to view the property tax details on the right-hand side.Step: 9 – Payment Process
On the bottom of the property tax information, there are two options such as Demand Tax and pay online -> The user must click on pay online -> this would then get directed to the payment gatewayStep: 10 – Payment Gateway
The user must select the type of payment methods such as a credit card or debit card or net banking or other e-wallets. After choosing the method, the user could click on make a payment. He could enter the necessary details, review the information before processing and submit the e-transaction.Step: 11 - Receipt
The user will receive the receipt of the payment automatically sent to their e-mail. By this step, the payment process would be complete. Another method is through "Property Tax e-payment" -> Access the web portal as per the steps mentioned in the previous paragraph. This step had an advantage to add the building to the specific person and then pay the fee online and all other buildings for which the property tax is due.Step: 1 – Enroll a Building
Once the user has logged in, he must click on enrol a building. The user must add the building and enter the district and the local body type of the particular building.Step: 2 - Repeat Step: 6 to Step 8 above
The user could now add the new building by ticking the checkbox and selecting the building. The user could now press the button "add" on the bottom, and then the building would be added.Step: 3 – Payment Process
After the addition of the building, he could make payment for all pending dues. On the last column of the list, there would be options to pay online; one must select the correct building and click on pay online.Step: 4 – Repeat Step: 9 to 11
